About Farlist
A small, slow place for the goals that take years.
What is a stretch?
Something hard you're working toward over years. Run a marathon. Learn Italian. Become a present parent. None of these are tasks, and Farlist isn't a to-do list.
Why "stretch" and not "goal"?
The word "goal" covers everything from daily habits to lifetime aspirations. Farlist needed a word for one altitude. Stretch is what you reach for. The kind of thing that takes years.
What's the difference between Farlist and a habit tracker?
Habit trackers are about today. Farlist sits with the longer arcs. If you want a meditation streak, use Habitica. Farlist is for the things that don't fit on a daily checklist.
What does Parked mean? Why is it a state?
A stretch you've set down on purpose. The thing you wanted at 25 might stop being the thing at 30. That's allowed. It isn't failure, and it isn't the simple done/undone most apps assume. You can come back to a parked stretch any time.
What's the four-state lifecycle?
Four states. Idea for things you're still considering. Pursuing for what you're working on now. Done needs a short reflection, the closing sentence that turns the list into a memoir over time. Parked is set down on purpose, may return.
Who is Farlist for?
Probably you, if you've been keeping goals in a notebook or Notion and wishing for something quieter. People who take the long view.
Is Farlist free? Will there be a paid tier?
The core is free, permanently. The list, the lifecycle, the public profile, every category, privacy, reflections. A Pro tier is planned. Probably photos on Done items, a year-in-review export, an annual recap. Not launched yet. We want to see what real people do with the free product first.
Is my data private? Can I make my profile invisible?
Yes to both. Every stretch has its own privacy toggle. Private stretches don't appear and don't leak metadata. You can also turn off the whole profile in settings, and visitors then see the same screen as if the account didn't exist. We don't sell your data. We don't train AI on your stretches. We don't run third-party trackers.
